Pis? / Sunday, May 27, 2007

Hmm, lets test your knowledge. Do you know whats the most famous sight in Brussels? Give up? Its the statue of Manneken pis!! Ya, it is exactly what it means.. Piss...

See it behind me... Yeah, the statue of a pissing boy, its very small though.. Until now, I still dunno why its that popular.. Anyways, do you know that he gets dressed every now and then?? Yeah, dressed!! To save him from the embarrassment, haha.. Well, its a custom for all dignitaries on a visit to Belgium to prepare a costume for him, and it will be worn for that few days.. haha.. crazy right.. I wonder if our minister will bring a sarong for him to wear when he visits.. lol.. Anyway, because brussels is the meeting place for the UN, I guess he really has lots of costumes to wear... lol.

The first day we visited him, he was in this funny scuba suit.. lol.. doesnt suit him though.. luckily, he was back to his original form on the next day we visit him.. Well, bothers me to say it, but I prefer him naked.. haha

Brussels - Chocolate and Waffles? / Saturday, May 26, 2007

Hmm, what is Belgium famous for? Chocolates, Waffles? Lol.. there are lots more to it.. But well, these 2 are the most famous in Belgium, other than Beer of course....

Ya, despite our expression, its not bad.. I mean the icecream... the waffle is ok only I think, not spectacular, but the icecream is really nice, but its an Australian company.. lol.. Oh ya, try their belgium spice chocolate ice cream.. its really good, although I dunno why for those who ate it all got stomaches after that.. haha...

Who can resist chocolates? Haha.. Well, not me.. Got his box of exquisite chocolates from a store in the city, there are actually alot of them around, but kinda got tricked, cos they give us one free try at any of the chocolates they have, so after that no choice but buy one box from them.. argh.. but it was good lar, so many different kinds.. Got one baileys chocolate.. Woah, NICE!!!

Oh, do you know the famous comic Tin Tin is from Brussels?? No kidding, I only know that when i reached there...

I LOVE Tin Tin!!! Still can remember last time when we were brought to the library, all I borrowed was Tin Tin books, din give a hoot bout the other children books.. Lol... Saw a Limited Edition Tin Tin Swatch Wall Watch there.. It was selling at almost 150euro i think, and it was the last piece!! Limited to only 1000 in the world, BUT it had a crack at the back!!! Wasted.. Should have gotten it if not for the crack, and the shopkeeper din want to give me a discount, although it had a 20% discount to it already.. haha..

Amsterdam - Warning!! For 18 years and above only / Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Hmm... Amsterdam... Drugs and the infamous redlight district?? Lol... Actually, Amsterdam is more famous for some other then that, trust me.. But no harm taking a look at those since you are here right.. Lets name some special stuff here... Hmm, a Sex museum, 'coffee shops' that sells hash and marijuana, a hash and marijuana museum (you can actually buy seeds from there), a whole area of 'windows' (erm, for those who dunno wat are those, dun ask.. ha!) Lol.. shall not post pictures regarding those here, if you want to see them can ask me... =)

Just for you all to wonder.. Y is the symbol of Amsterdam represented by the 3 Xs??.. XXX...
Yeah, it was decided some time ago.. Wonder if the people in the past had a vision for Amsterdam 'this' famous?

Anyway while you all ponder, let me tell you some things that you probably wont know about Amsterdam..

See the map of Amsterdam, what does it remind you of... Like an onion right... The different canals lining up around the main city centre.. Just like an onion..

See the houses.. All of them are slanted... Y? Blame it on the poor construction and ground conditions.. But dun worry, it wont fall.. Eh, at least thats what the tour guide told us.. And the beams on top of the buildings, it is actually used to lift stuff like furnitures up and down cos the stairs within the building are way too narrow.. o.0

Oh, and the key and castle symbol you see on top, they are actually how postman recognizes houses as they dun have formal address.. Woah, imagine a day of the postman.. When he reach the wrong house... "****!! Its the 4 keys with a castle and not the 3 keys with the castle house again!!"

Guess what is on the top right.. No, its not for you to put your shoes on, nor is it for flower pots.. They are pee deflectors!! Yea, not those that reflects back at you when you pee, they just make it so that your pee drips back at you when you do it.. Apparently it solves their public peeing problem.. =) The top right is a monument for WW2, ahem.. guess what does it look like (hint: its Amsterdam!! Ok, dun say out the answer)
The coffee shop at the bottom left is supposed to be famous, a part of the movie was filmed there but I forgot what is it.. ha... Oh, and the bottom right is a picture of our tour guide.. Dun be fooled by his huge earlobes and multiple tatoos and piercings, he is one superb knowledgeable tour guide!! Yes, if you visit Amsterdam, be sure to go on the free tour that starts near the central station... A must!!!

Easter Trip - Leeds / Liverpool / Sunday, May 13, 2007

So after London we went to Leeds and Liverpool.. To meet up with Teckie in Leeds.. Lol... And of cos, to visit my the all important stadium.. ANFIELD STADIUM!!! Wa... Like Dream come true... Never thought I will ever step foot into it... =)

Yup, wonderful day for me... Not knowingly I will be going for a live match at Anfield 2 weeks later!! Ok ,tts reserved for another post another time.. =) So for now, enjoy the stadium tour at Anfield!! Yea, its smaller then all the other major club's fields and its much older, but hey, at least they are shifting to a bigger one in a few years time ok... But its really a cosy stadium

See the Champions league trophy?? Cool right.. Its the real thing!! Not replicas or any of those sort.. see the 2004/05 Liverpool carved right at the bottom.. Lol... I guess its one of those miracles that they keep on showing at the museum.. The incredible Istanbul final.. Lol...

Easter Trip Big Breakdown - London IV / Wednesday, May 02, 2007

I know I'm abit long winded with this london leg of the trip, but no choice, really alot of things to say bout it.. Ok, this will be the last post bout London , but I will come back at the end of my trip to Europe in july I hope, watch more musicals, eat more duck rice.. haha.. Crazy hor..

Anyway, this post is bout.... Arsenal... Yea, the football club and the Emirates stadium.. Eh, this picture shd say it all... lol.. (hopefully I dun get mobbed..)

Anyways, apart from that, the stadium is way cool.. Comparing with the Anfield stadium which I will talk about later.. BUT.. the stadium tour is a hefty 8 pounds I think... so expensive.. or was it 12 pounds.. cant remember.. This is the first stadium I went to in UK but the ones we saw in Germany were not too bad too.. esp the Allianz stadium in Munich, home of Bayern Munich!!
